Scenically, a river cruise holiday is pretty well unbeatable, as many of the Europe’s finest towns and cities were founded on the strength of their waterway connections and still present their most pleasing aspects to the visitor arriving in this way. Meandering through the fertile lands they helped to create, these rivers are naturally flanked by mountains, gently forested hillsides and attractive rural communities.
