The Aztec, Maya, Olmec and Toltec empires (to name a few) constructed great temples and shrines that are now scattered across the southern half of the country, many still to be excavated and explored.
The hustle and bustle of vast Mexico City has to been seen to be believed. Well over 20 million people reside here making it one of the largest cities in the world and the immense sun and moon pyramids at Teotihuacan nearby will take your breath away. Further east, the jungle setting of the ruins at Palenque are both eerie and beautiful and the largest ancient site at Chichen Itza puts shows the true scale of these ancient empires. Not forgetting Mexico's wonderful beaches - it really has it all.
