Temples of Abu Simbel

The temples of Abu Simbel are one of Egypt's most interesting and impressive attractions. This impressive monument went through a rescue operation during the 1960's as the rising waters of Lake Nasser threatened its future. The temples were dismantled and moved 60 meters up the cliff in the exact same relation to the sun.

Egypt

White buildings topped by golden minarets shimmering in the heat, and the terracotta and ochre hues of expansive deserts, all the more vivid beneath constant blue skies, is the image we associate with North Africa. Egypt is located on the north-eastern corner of the continent, bordering both the sun-kissed Mediterranean Sea and the diver's paradise of the Red Sea with ofcourse the splendid River Nile flowing through this fascinating country. The ancient civilisation in Egypt dates back three thousand years before Christ, evidence of this statement is visible in the remarkable city of Cairo. In stark contrast to the mysterious and awesome Pyramids and Sphinx, the cruise ships glide leisurely along the banks of the majestic Nile, passing cameos of simple riverside life, still unchanged by modern influences.
